About

I’m Stephen Norman Young, a Scottish photographer and visual storyteller based in London, working across documentary, editorial, portraiture and public art.

My photography is driven by curiosity. I’m drawn to the people, places and moments that reveal something authentic—whether that’s a musician backstage, a community transforming its neighbourhood, or the quiet details of everyday life that often go unnoticed. I believe photography is as much about observation as it is about the camera.

Over the years I’ve worked with editorial publications, commercial clients and cultural organisations, producing imagery that combines strong visual storytelling with a human approach. My work has been published internationally and spans portraits, live music, architecture, social documentary and commissioned campaigns.

Alongside photography, I develop public art and heritage projects that celebrate local identity and encourage people to reconnect with the places around them. From railway stations to high streets, I enjoy creating work that leaves a lasting connection between people, history and place.

My approach is collaborative, thoughtful and adaptable. Whether documenting an event, creating portraits or developing a long-term visual project, I aim to produce photographs that feel honest, engaging and timeless.

For me, photography isn’t simply about recording what something looked like. It’s about capturing what it felt like to be there.

With projects and activities, snyspace contributes to a vision led by community development through Art which benefits local business and population.
